KiSHAN's: India's Past - Present - Future

KiSHAN's: India's Past - Present - Future:

Are you surprised that 300 years ago, India's share in world trade was 25% and today it may be just 1%.

Or that in 1700s, India's economic position was 1st and UK's 10th, Or for that matter, a century ago, 1 rupees could get you 15 pounds.

What a pity that India, once a land of prosperity and high happiness index, is now a land of disparity and poverty quotients.

One can't laud enough the efforts of the Hari couple - for trying to bring back the pride for our motherland.

What a great ambassador India have? India has got the talent. The future is bright; India will reclaim its pride of place.

Jago Indians, Know thy India and help it Rise Again......

KiSHAN's: Limit What You Borrow - Invest your money

KiSHAN's: Limit What You Borrow - Invest your money:

Living on credit cards and loans won't make you rich.

Warren Buffett has never borrowed a amount - not to invest, not for a mortgage.

He has gotten many heart-rendering letters from people who thought their borrowing was manageable but became overwhelmed by debt.

His advice: Negotiate with creditors to pay what you can. Then, when you're debt-free, work on saving some money that you can use to invest.

KiSHAN's: Reinvest Your Profits

KiSHAN's: Reinvest Your Profits:

When you first make money in the stock market, you may be tempted to spend it. Don't. Instead, reinvest the profits.

Warren Buffett learned this early on. In high school, he and a pal bought a pinball machine to put in a barbershop.

With the money they earned, they bought more machines until they had eight in different shops. When the friends sold the venture,

Warren Buffett used the proceeds to buy stocks and to start another small business. By age 26, he'd amassed $174,000 -- or $1.4 million in today's money.

Even a small sum can turn into great wealth.

Beginner’s Guide: Start a blog, get 100,000 page views and make over $100 your first month

If you’re a blog reader, chances are you’re also an aspiring blog writer. Launching a for-profit weblog is extremely attractive because it has the potential for endless profit with practically no overhead. Launching a blog is a quick and easy process even for the absolute beginner. The following is what I earned over $100 and received over 100,000 page views my first month blogging. I did it and you can too! Make the jump to find out how.

Technical stuff
First things first, you’ve got to get the technical stuff out of the way. The “technical stuff” I’m talking about includes choosing a blogging platform, choosing a hosting service, and choosing a domain name. Chances are you’re well aware of the various blogging platforms so I won’t spend time going over them. I think the best blogging software to use is WordPress.

Darren over at ProBlogger.net has an excellent post that describes the features of WordPress 2.0. After you’ve decided on a blogging application, you need to chose a domain name and a hosting service. If you have never blogged before (or even if you have) you will find that it is easiest to chose a domain name and hosting package from the same service provider.
Godaddy.com has 24/7 technical support (although you will pay a premium compared to other hosting providers) and it will completely automate the installation of WordPress for free. If you are not a technical person, this frees you from messing around with all the technical junk.

Domain name
It is extremely important that you think long term before picking a domain name. After you establish your blog, you aren’t going to be able to transfer your domain name without losing your readers, really! Think of your domain name as being permanently attached to your blog. Your domain name should be as short as possible, easy to remember, easy to speak, and not include any part of your name unless you’re a celebrity (which you’re not). You should avoid using any part of your name because if your blog becomes popular enough to sell, having your name as part or all of the domain name will drive down some of the blog’s value.

Get advertisements immediately
Sign up for advertisements immediately. You’re not going to make any money without advertisements. Yahoo!, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and many others offer advertisements that you can easily integrate into your site. I had great success using Google Adsense. Despite what you may have heard, you can make some pretty good money with Google ads. Checkout Darren from ProBlogger’s survey about Adsense income. I also recommend signing up with PayPopUp banner ads. PayPopUp pays you every time their ad is displayed, you don’t have to rely on users clicking the links. This will not make you nearly as much money as Google Adsense, however it is guaranteed money even if no visitors click your advertisements. After your blog is established, the goal should be to ditch third party advertisements and sell advertising space directly to companies.

Get Google Analytics immediately

You will want to track as much information about your visitors as possible, the easiest and most detailed way of doing so is with Google Analytics. Amongst many other things, Google Analytics lets you see the referring URL of your visitors, your top content, what Google searches are landing users at your site, how long users are staying, and their exit points. Knowing this information will help you customize your content so that you can maximize your readership. You should also consider using Site Meter to publicly display your site’s up to the hour traffic to potential advertisers.

Write 50 posts

That’s enough talk about setup, it’s time to talk content. That’s right, you need to write at least 50 posts your first month. That’s 2-3 posts per day, everyday for 30 days. It may seem tough, but it is absolutely necessary. The number one way that you will lose potential readers is to not update your site regularly. You need to establish readership, and get your Google Page Rank up, if you can’t come up with 50 posts the first month, you may want to consider finding another topic for your blog. Adding several posts per day will help increase the amount of Stumbleupon traffic your site grabs.

Submit every article to Digg

This recommendation is going to bring some negative comments, I’m sure. Regardless, digg.com is a tremendous way to advertise your site for free. Honestly, submit every article you write to digg. When you are starting a brand new blog, besides exchanging links with more establish blogs (which I recommend) there will be absolutely no links to your site. Even if you think the article is no good, submit it to digg. Let the digg community decide what is good content and what is not. You might as well let your work get some exposure. Some of my most popular posts through Stumbleupon got less than 4 diggs. Every article that doesn’t make the front page of digg will land you about 100 page views. If you do make the front page of digg (it’s a great feeling, believe me). You will get anywhere between 3,000 and 20,000 page views per day

The Little THINGS that make a big DIFFERENCE

There was a man taking a morning wa lk at or the beach. He saw that along with the morning tide came hundreds of starfish and when the tide receded, they were left behind and with the morning sun rays, they would die. The tide was fresh and the starfish were alive.

The man took a few steps, picked one and threw it into the water. He did that repeatedly. Right behind him there was another person who couldn't understand what this man was doing. He caught up with him and asked, "What are you doing? There are hundreds of starfish. How many can you help? What difference does it make?" This man did not reply, took two more steps, picked up another one, threw it into the water, and said, "It makes a difference to this one."

What difference are we making? Big or small, it does not matter. If everyone made a small difference, we'd end up with a big difference, wouldn't we?

Top 10 tips for transfer your Dream into REALITY.... !!!

1. What’s your real motive?
Many of the greatest achievements in the world were made by insecure people, i.e. people who had to prove something to the society. They had such a strong desire for change and the word “failure” was not in their vocabulary. For example, Abraham Lincoln was a poor, illiterate boy, until he realized that he can do a lot more than that.
You need to understand your true motives and work when everyone else is asleep, be ready to make sacrifices and be committed to your ultimate goals.

2. There are no excuses
There are always two voices in our heads. The first tells us to work hard and concentrate on our work and the other to give up without a second thought. Stop looking for cheap excuses, beat your procrastination and look for opportunities that will bring you closer to your dreams. Do not forget that ‘when there is a will, there is also a way’.

3. Identify the true principles in your life
Everyone should know their true principles. One of the principles of Apple was to bring change in the world through innovation and it follows it until today. Determine what are the principles that guide you even in times when things are not going so well. Follow these principles at all cost, without making ‘discounts’ in your life.

4. Insist when others resign
Nobody knows when it will fulfill a dream. It may be tomorrow or ten years from now. You should never give up your dream. This is the difference between people who have succeeded in what they are doing and those who have not manage to do anything worth mentioning until now.
Just consider the fact that many people are recognized for their achievements after their death! Nobody knows when it will be the time to get what you deserve but at least you know that you have not given up your dreams.

5. Risks can take you to the top
Without taking risks, there is no reward! Those who have succeeded in life took a lot of risks to get there.  Talent is not enough; you also need to take risks and be ready to change your life and search for something better.

6. Money is not your motive
Money can be an incentive, a reward, but should not be considered your only motive. When you work hard for the sole purpose of making money you may succeed but you will not feel complete! The fulfillment of dreams does not mean a good salary, instead if you work hard and achieve your dreams the satisfaction to your soul is more valuable than any monetary reward.

7. Work from early morning to late evening
Without hard work you cannot fulfill your dreams. This, of course means that you need to find a balance between work, family and sociability. If you are to succeed, you must be “addicted” to your dream and be ready make short term sacrifices for long term success.

8. ‘Study’ can get you a step closer to your dream!
Mike Tyson was not a sports guy, but became what he is through a lot of practice! He watched all the movies related to his sport and worked his technique and succeeded.  What is the take away from Tyson’s story? If your dream is to become a writer then read lots of books, and if you’re in marketing then study everything about sales. Don’t expect that you will magically know everything without making effort.

9. Exercise to fill your brain with energy
If a car has no fuel, it cannot move! So is our body with energy. The more we have, the easier it is to improve the quality of work and our endurance. As stated by Richard Branson: «The key to success is fitness. This is the only way for blood to circulate quickly in our brain and concentrate more effectively on our dreams“. Put exercise into your life and increase your chances for success.

10. Do the right thing for yourself
We all have our moments of doubt and denial. The really successful people though believe strongly that they are doing the right thing for themselves. Even if they spend a few days full of worries, they know that have tried with all their might for their dream. We must never let the doubts take over your life and drive you away from your goals.

10 Railway lines planned in INDIA's Borders, Better late than Never.... !!!

Four years of labour at heights of more than 16,600 feet over a distance of 1,142 km...little wonder the Tibet railway made it to the record books. Could India's own Rs-80,000-crore strategic railway network chalk up similar benchmarks?

As with many such projects in India, the catchwords are wait and watch. Not that the Indian project lacks in scale or engineering challenge.

The proposed Srinagar-Kargil-Leh railway line will traverse heights ranging from 6,000 feet to 13,000 feet with night time temperatures in winter going as low as -30 degrees Celsius. There are also areas prone to mudslides (passi is the local term I believe). But with so much work already done (including roads over the 13,000+ feet Rohtang Pass), the railways probably have enough expertise to attempt the Leh segment with a degree of confidence.

To the east, the Misamari to Tawang line will rise from a little over 500 feet to about 10,000 feet. Here again apart from the bitter cold, the monsoon can be expected to wreak havoc. Add to that the fragile nature of the terrain and the soft soil resulting in landslides. Presumably there are technologies out there that the railways can avail of to get around these issues.

There are other lines envisaged that will improve connectivity along the sensitive western border. But as these are in the plains, there will be little problem in getting it done (aside of course from land acquisition).

The wonder is it took so long to get moving. But if you look at India's approach to road building in the Himalayas, the story is much the same. We woke up too late to China's road building all along the Line of Actual Control. Now China is on to the next stage, a railway line running roughly parallel to the road. Worse, China is planning links to the Nepal border and even one that will end up opposite Tawang in Arunachal (that China claims as its own).

Senior Army officers are pessimistic about the prospects for the railway. Given the capital involved and the delays inherent in the Indian system, what should have been done 20 years ago has barely got underway. Surveys have been completed on most of the priority 10 lines identified so far (including Leh and Tawang) but it's difficult to say when construction will begin.

Possible impact of Indian Budget 2012 on Power and Energy Sector

After the release of Union Budget 2012 in India, industry experts in each sector have started analysing the probable impact of budget on their business and industrial sector. The featured story was the increase in the number of services for which service taxes will be charged. This decision has already triggered a price rise in FMCG and food products.

In this post, I want to point out the possible impact of the union budget on the power and energy sector.

First of all I would like to point out the key point in the Budget that is going to influence the whole electrical or power industry. That is the decision of reducing the import duty on coal.

At first look, this decision of reducing the coal import duty will surely help out curbing the energy deficit of our country. Thermal power stations like NTPC and other industries having their own captive power plants will surely benefit from this by increasing their production capacity. Since the price of coal will decrease, so their operational cost will automatically come down along with increased power production.

But this decision is going to badly affect the renewable energy sector which is still in its incubation state in India.

Increased import of coal is not good for us in the long run. This will increase our dependency on non-renewable exhaustible sources of energy. In addition to this, it will add to environmental pollution.

In spite of the fact that India has a huge potential for wind energy which is currently the most efficient renewable energy source, Indian Budget 2012 has not laid any special focus on this sector.

Due this decision, solar energy sector is going to be the most affected industry due to the heavy prices of photovoltaic cells.

Concluding this post, as per my opinions, the budget must have laid out some incentives or policies which could have helped the renewable energy sector of our country, so that we can reduce our dependency on the conventional sources of energy.

India lost $123 billion in black money in a decade

WASHINGTON:

The Indian economy suffered $1.6 billion in illicit financial outflows in 2010, capping-off a decade in which it experienced black money losses of $123 billion, according to a new report.

India is ranked as the decade's 8th largest victim of illicit capital flight behind China, Mexico, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the Philippines, and Nigeria, respectively in the report by Global Financial Integrity, a Washington-based research and advocacy organization.

Titled "Illicit Financial Flows from Developing Countries: 2001-2010," the report found that all developing and emerging economies suffered $858.8 billion in illicit outflows in 2010, just below the all-time high of $871.3 billion set in 2008-the year preceding the global financial crisis.

"While progress has been made in recent years, India continues to lose a large amount of wealth in illicit financial outflows," said GFI director Raymond Baker.

"Much focus has been paid in the media on recovering the Indian black money that has already been lost," he said suggesting policy makers should instead make curtailing the ongoing outflow of money priority number one.

"$123 billion is a massive amount of money for the Indian economy to lose," said Dev Kar, GFI lead economist and co-author of the report with GFI economist Sarah Freitas.

"It has very real consequences for Indian citizens. This is more than $100 billion dollars which could have been used to invest in education, healthcare, and upgrade the nation's infrastructure," he said.

A Nov 2010 GFI report, "The Drivers and Dynamics of Illicit Financial Flows from India: 1948-2008," found that the Indian economy lost $462 billion to illicit financial outflows from 1948 through 2008.

Authored by Kar, the report measured India's underground economy as 50 percent of GDP, with cumulative illicit outflows accounting for an increasing share of the total underground economy.

The new GFI study also estimates the developing world lost a total of $5.86 trillion to illicit outflows over the decade spanning 2001 through 2010.

The $858.8 billion of illicit outflows lost to all developing countries in 2010 is a significant uptick from 2009, which saw developing nations lose $776.0 billion.

GFI advocated that world leaders increase the transparency in the international financial system as a means to curtail the illicit flow of money highlighted by Kar and Freitas' research.

Mallya offered 3 kg gold to TIRUPATI

TIRUPATI:

Promoter of crisis-ridden Kingfisher Airlines and UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallya made an offering of gold bricks, weighing about three kg, at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara on his 58th birthday today.

Mallya donated the gold after offering worship and requested temple authorities to use it for gilding the doors at the sanctum sanctorum, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Deputy Executive Officer (temple) Chinnamgari Ramana told PTI.

The United Breweries chief, who arrived with his family last night, celebrated his birthday at a simple function held at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams guesthouse, Venkata Vijayam, donated by him 15 years ago, temple sources said.

In August, Mallya had offered Rs 80 lakh gold-plated doors to the Kukke Subramanya temple, a place in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district visited by many a well-known personality looking for a turnaround in fortunes.

Kingfisher, which Mallya launched in 2005, was once India's second-largest airline by domestic market share, but is now in deep financial distress.

It has been grounded since October 1 following a strike by its pilots and engineers over non-payment of salary dues and its flying license has been suspended.

It is believed that Mallya made sure that every aircraft he bought, first flew to Tirupati and circled around the Lord Venkateshwara shrine before being deployed.

Punjab supply power to PAKISTAN, 2013

Lahore:
India’s Punjab can supply electricity to the Pakistan province of Punjab by 2013 as it will have surplus power by then, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today.
“By 2013, the Indian Punjab will have surplus electricity and it will be more than willing to export it to Pakistan. A major portion of electricity is being produced through coal while more than 500 MW is being generated from renewable sources like biomass, wheat-straw and rice-straw,” said Badal, who is currently on a visit to Lahore.
Interacting with businessmen at the Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Badal said another 500 MW of electricity generated by solar power would be added to India’s national grid in the next five years.
Sukhbir Singh Badal.
He also endorsed suggestions from Pakistani businessmen for setting up consulates in the Indian city of Amritsar and Lahore, the capital of Pakistani Punjab.
Both cities immediately require consulates of the two countries to process visa applications because it is cumbersome for residents of both sides of Punjab to travel to their national capitals to apply for visas, he said.
Badal said trade between India and Pakistan could be increased from the current level of $2 billion to $10 billion in the shortest possible time if both sides take “sector-specific measures”.
Elaborating this point, he said the distance between Lahore and Amritsar can be covered in only 35 minutes while goods coming through a third country cost 10 times more than their price in direct trade.
“India is one of the biggest economies in the region and offers innumerable opportunities to Pakistani businessmen. The businessmen must not feel any threat from the entrepreneurship of Indians. Rather they should work out a strategy to be competitive. Indian Punjab has a big consumer market that should be captured by Pakistani businessmen,” Badal argued.
Badal said the banking system between the two countries should be upgraded and student exchange programme should be activated for the larger benefit of the people.
LCCI president Farooq Iftikhar said non-tariff barriers faced by Pakistani exporters were creating problems.
“At present, almost equal quantum of trade is going on between Pakistan and India from third destinations like Dubai and Colombo. Some kinds of bans are also coming in the way. It increases the cost in the form of freight, taxes and loss of time,” he said.
Iftikhar called for special relaxations to increase trade.
“There are many possibilities which can lead our economies to supplement each other for growth. We need to identify areas of economic cooperation. Joint ventures, outsourcing and sharing of technology will further pave the way for trade expansion,” he said.
He further said a flexible visa regime is the need of the hour. The business community on both sides has to wait for several days to obtain visas.
